Pahalgam

Pahalgam is aptly named as the ‘Valley of Shepherds’ situated about 98 kms from the Vale of Kashmir and dressed with stunning lush meadows and gentle slopes that meanders across this town. Pahalgam is perched at a height of 2,130 meters above sea level and is considered as one of the most scenic places in Kashmir. It is ideally placed at the confluence the Lidder River and Sheshnag Lake that offer breathtaking views of the adjacent landscapes and valleys set against the calm water bodies. The gentle rolling meadows of Baisaran are lined with thick forests set against the Himalayan mountains while Hajan offers scenic picnic spots that are picture-perfect postcard settings around the splendid valleys of Kashmir.

Best Time to Visit Pahalgam

While March is still cool, April onwards marks the onset of summer season in Pahalgam. During this season, the weather is pleasant and favourable for day sightseeing. Temperature generally ranges between 25 degree Celsius and 11 degrees. This is Pahalgam’s peak tourist season and also happens to be an ideal month for the most revered Amarnath Yatra.

The months of March to June and are warm and pleasant. The temperature can go up to a maximum of 25° C and a minimum of 11° C. This season is the best to plan for Amarnath yatra as there will be no snowfall in the region.
